Acid Gas Scrubber

NAPCEN Acid Gas Scrubbers are custom engineered to achieve over 99% removal efficiency of acid and toxic gases while maintaining a low pressure drop. These systems utilize either structured or random packing, depending on the application, along with a mist eliminator and an efficient liquid distribution system. Pollutants are removed through a combination of absorption and neutralization processes. Their high performance ensures environmental compliance and protection of both public health and industrial equipment.

Acid Gas Scrubber

Acid gas scrubbers are air pollution control systems designed to remove harmful acidic gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO2) hydrogen chloride (HCl), hydrochloric acid, carbon dioxide (CO2), ammonia, and nitrous oxides from industrial exhaust streams. These scrubbers can be either fixed or portable and operate using a combination of chemical, physical, and electrochemical processes. The system typically includes multiple treatment stages working in parallel to ensure effective removal of contaminants.

Why Choose Our Acid Gas Scrubber?

  • High SO2 removal efficiency meets CPCB & state PCB limits
  • Low pressure-drop design reduces fan power consumption
  • Modular capacities from 1,000 m³/h to 60,000 m³/h
  • Automated pH control for consistent
  • Robust construction for continuous duty in harsh environments
  • Typical Industries Served:

  • Thermal power & boiler plants
  • Chemical and petrochemical refineries
  • Metal smelting and galvanizing lines
  • Fertilizer & sulfuric-acid production
  • Pulp & paper, glass and ceramics manufacturing
Acid Gas Scrubber FAQs

About Acid Gas Removal Systems

Acid gas scrubber is a wet scrubbing system that removes acidic gases—such as SO2, HCl, HF and industrial exhaust by contacting the gas stream with an alkaline liquid.
Our SO2 scrubber sprays a lime or caustic solution counter-current to the flue gas inside a packed tower. The solution chemically reacts with sulfur dioxide, forming inert salts that are safely discharged.
The scrubbing liquor chemistry, the same unit can simultaneously remove SO2, HCl and fine particulates, making it ideal for multi-pollutant control.
All equipment is designed to meet or exceed Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) emission guidelines. We provide third-party performance validation on request.
Routine tasks include pump inspection, nozzle cleaning, pH monitoring and periodic replacement of demister pads. Smoke Absorbers offers comprehensive annual maintenance contracts for worry-free operation.
